UNESCO World Heritage Venue

Weddings at Woolmers Estate

A UNESCO World Heritage wedding venue in Tasmania. Eighteen original buildings, 5,000 roses, and over 200 years of history.

Your Wedding

A Venue Like No Other

Woolmers Estate is one of Tasmania's most distinctive wedding venues. A UNESCO World Heritage Site established in 1817, the estate spans 13 hectares of heritage gardens, original colonial buildings and open countryside, all framed by views of the Great Western Tiers.

This is not a purpose-built function centre dressed to look historic. It is the real thing. Eighteen original buildings, a National Rose Garden with 5,000 roses across 460 varieties, and over 200 years of continuous history create a setting that no styled venue can replicate.

Whether you choose to exchange vows among thousands of roses in bloom, beneath heritage cherry trees, or beside one of the oldest surviving two-storey shearing sheds in Australia, your wedding photographs and memories will be unlike anyone else’s.

Woolmers Estate is located in Longford, 20 minutes from Launceston and Launceston Airport, making it easily accessible for guests travelling from anywhere in Australia. On-site heritage cottage accommodation means your bridal party and closest guests can stay the night before, wake up on the grounds, and never have to rush.

Locations

Ceremony Locations

Every wedding at Woolmers is different, because every ceremony location on the estate has its own character. Walk the grounds with our team to find the setting that feels right for you.

Ceremony Location 1

National Rose Garden

The National Rose Garden at Woolmers Estate is home to 5,000 individual plants across 460 varieties. From October through February, the garden reaches peak bloom, surrounding your ceremony with colour and fragrance. Beyond the roses, the views stretch across the Norfolk Plains to the Great Western Tiers, giving your photographer a backdrop that changes with the light throughout the day.

Ceremony Location 2

Walled Garden

The heritage Walled Garden is one of Woolmers Estate’s most elegant ceremony settings. An original c.1860 Coalbrookdale fountain sits at its centre, flanked by a sweeping carriage circle, croquet lawns and mature hedgerows, with the Italianate homestead as your backdrop. The walled enclosure creates a sense of intimacy and privacy that larger garden settings can’t match.

Ceremony Location 3

Woolshed

One of the oldest surviving two-storey shearing sheds in Australia, built in the 1820s, offers a ceremony location with real character. The Woolshed combines rustic heritage with a sense of occasion. Weathered timber, original stonework and views across the estate grounds make this the right choice for couples who want a country wedding venue with authenticity rather than a styled barn.

Ceremony Location 4

Gallery

The Gallery at the Nigel Peck Centre is a versatile, all-weather ceremony space within Woolmers Estate’s modern visitor centre. Purpose-built in 2018, it offers a private, contemporary setting with views to the gardens. This is the ideal backup for couples planning an outdoor ceremony who want the certainty of a covered alternative, or for those who prefer a more intimate indoor setting.

Photography

A Photographer's Estate

Woolmers Estate offers more photographic variety in a single venue than most couples find across an entire wedding day. Within the 13-hectare grounds, your photographer can move between the National Rose Garden in bloom, convict-era brick buildings, open farmland with mountain views, tree-lined avenues, the 1820s Woolshed, and the Italianate homestead.

The Great Western Tiers provide a mountain backdrop that shifts in colour and mood throughout the day. Woolmers welcomes engagement shoots and pre-wedding photography sessions.
