Arrive early and make the most of it. The café opens at 8am, and breakfast guests are welcome to walk the estate grounds complimentary until 10am. That’s over 13 hectares of heritage gardens, original 1820s buildings and the National Rose Garden to yourself before the day visitors arrive. It’s one of the quietest, most beautiful morning walks in Northern Tasmania, and it comes with your breakfast.

Dining with a View
The Rose Garden Café opens onto an outdoor courtyard and bar area overlooking the National Rose Garden, home to 5,000 roses across 460 varieties. During the bloom season from October to February, it’s one of the more memorable settings for lunch in Northern Tasmania.
The café seats 130 inside and the courtyard provides additional outdoor seating. On warmer days, grab a table outside with a view across the rose beds to the Great Western Tiers beyond.

For accommodation guests staying in the heritage cottages, the café is a short walk from your door. No need to cook in the cottage kitchen when there’s eggs Benedict and good coffee waiting.

No. The Rose Garden Café is open to everyone. You can visit the café without purchasing General Admission. The café entrance is directly through the Nigel Peck Centre from the main car park.
What are the café opening hours?
The Rose Garden Café is open daily from 8am to 4:30pm. We are closed on Christmas Day.
Do I need to book a table?
No bookings are required. Walk-ins are welcome and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
What does complimentary grounds access for breakfast guests mean?
Breakfast guests who order a meal from the café before 10am are welcome to walk the estate grounds complimentary until 10am. This includes the heritage precinct exteriors, the National Rose Garden and the estate’s tree-lined avenues. It’s a wonderful way to start your morning at a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After 10am, grounds access requires a General Admission ticket.
Is the café suitable for children?
Yes. We have a dedicated kids menu with meals from $10, and the café is family-friendly. Children are welcome to walk the grounds with breakfast guests during the complimentary morning access period.

About 20 minutes by car. We’re also 20 minutes from Launceston Airport and under 5 minutes off the Heritage Highway, making it an easy stop for travellers heading south.

Yes. Free on-site parking is available directly outside the Nigel Peck Centre.
Can I visit the café if I'm staying in the heritage cottages?
Absolutely. The café is a short walk from the accommodation cottages and is an easy option for breakfast, morning tea or lunch during your stay.
