Woolmers Estate has stood since 1817. Its 18 original buildings have survived more than 200 years of floods, fires, storms and time. But right now, they need your help.
Brickendon and Woolmers Estates are the only non-government owned UNESCO World Heritage Convict Sites in Australia. There is no ongoing operational funding. No safety net. The preservation of this irreplaceable place depends entirely on the generosity of people who believe it is worth saving.
A recent conservation assessment of the Woolmers homestead makes sobering reading. Rising damp is causing original contents to deteriorate. The roof needs repair. The basement needs structural work. These are not cosmetic problems. They are urgent ones.
