A Venue Like No Other Coming Soon
We are currently restoring Woolmers Cottage, an 1836-built heritage building within the estate grounds, to be used for accommodation and weddings.
The restoration will include a dedicated outdoor marquee area adjacent to the cottage for larger receptions. The setting is going to be extraordinary — an intimate heritage venue within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by heritage gardens, original colonial buildings and views of the Great Western Tiers.
Ceremonies will take place in the grounds surrounding Woolmers Cottage, with the restored 1836 building and its gardens providing a naturally beautiful backdrop. The marquee next to the cottage will host your reception celebration.
We are not expecting to be ready to take wedding bookings until late 2027, so depending on your timeline, we may not be the right fit just yet.
In the meantime we warmly recommend our sister property, Brickendon Estate. Like Woolmers, Brickendon is a UNESCO World Heritage site just minutes away in Longford and it has a wonderful history of hosting weddings in a stunning heritage setting. You can reach the team at Brickendon directly at information@brickendon.com.au or 0437 525 890
If your date falls from late 2027 onwards, we would love to stay in touch. Register your interest below and you will be among the first to hear when bookings open.
Ceremony Location
Say your vows on the grounds of Woolmers Cottage – an 1836 heritage landmark set within a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, with mountain views, established gardens, and a sense of place that simply can’t be manufactured.
Woolmers Cottage & Surrounds
Exchange vows in the grounds surrounding the restored 1836 Woolmers Cottage. With the heritage cottage as your backdrop, established gardens around you, and views stretching to the Great Western Tiers, this is an intimate outdoor ceremony setting within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cottage grounds provide a private, enclosed feeling while still opening onto the wider estate landscape – a naturally beautiful location that no purpose-built venue could match.
- Best for: Couples who want a garden wedding in Tasmania with colour, scale and mountain views.
- Peak season: October to February (bloom season). Beautiful year-round
Your Reception at Woolmers
Exchange vows in the gardens, then move seamlessly into a reception space that brings together heritage character and modern functionality.
Outdoor Marquee
A dedicated marquee area adjacent to Woolmers Cottage will host your reception, combining the romance of an outdoor celebration with the comfort of a sheltered setting. The marquee sits on the grounds next to the cottage, offering a seamless flow from ceremony to celebration.
As the sun sets behind the Great Western Tiers, your guests will enjoy an atmosphere that blends heritage charm with natural beauty — something truly unique to this part of Tasmania.
Tables are set with all-white crockery, Woolmers glassware, water vessels, white napery and cutlery. A French-style white register signing table and chair are included. Woolmers staff handle full table setup and assist with pack-down after the event, so you can collect flowers, cake and personal items the following day without any rush on the night.

A Photographer's Estate
Woolmers Estate offers more photographic variety in a single venue than most couples find across an entire wedding day. Within the 13-hectare grounds, your photographer can move between the National Rose Garden in bloom, convict-era brick buildings, open farmland with mountain views, tree-lined avenues, the 1820s Woolshed, and the Italianate homestead.
The Great Western Tiers provide a mountain backdrop that shifts in colour and mood throughout the day. Woolmers welcomes engagement shoots and pre-wedding photography sessions.
When to Get Married at Woolmers
Spring
October – November
The Rose Garden enters early bloom. Spring light, wildflowers across the farmland, and mild temperatures make this one of the most popular periods for outdoor ceremonies.
Summer
December – February
Peak rose season. The National Rose Garden is at its most spectacular, with 5,000 roses in bloom. Long summer evenings allow for golden-hour photography well into the evening. Tasmania’s warmest months.
Autumn
March – May
Autumn colours across the estate’s mature trees. Quieter, cooler days with soft light that photographers love. Off-peak pricing may apply for some suppliers.
Winter
June – September
Moody skies, morning frost across the farmland, and the cosiest atmosphere in the heritage cottages. The Gallery offers a beautiful all-weather ceremony option. Wood heaters, roaring fires and intimate winter celebrations have a character all their own.
Begin Your Wedding at Woolmers
We’d love to show you the estate in person. Arrange a private viewing and start planning your wedding at one of Tasmania’s most remarkable venues.
